January is usually a month when people find it hard to make ends meet. The excesses of the Christmas festivities often leave bank balances stretched to the limit, credit card balances worryingly high, and loads of competing demands on whatever spare cash remains. It's not surprising then that for many of us, our January budget is a real worry, and towards the end of the month cash just runs out.

If you're lucky, your bank account may be able to take the strain, letting you hold over dealing with some of your expenses until your budget settles down again later on. Or, you may well have some headroom on your credit card that you can use to bridge the gap, although taking out cash on creditt card accounts is well known for being expensive.

What can you do if none of these two options are available?

The answer is, for many, to apply for a cash advance. While cash advances are far from inexpensive, they are speedy to arrange and are obtainable by nearly anyone who has a regular wage and a suitable bank account, with credit history not ordinarily being a barrier. Payday advance loans are normally for a small amount, a few hundred or so, and are taken out over a term of days or weeks rather than months or years. A set charge of around 15-20% of the sum you borrow is imposed, which you pay when you pay back the debt when you next get paid.

Most loans also have the facility of being renewed or extended, so that you can defer paying off the loan for a further month, albeit at the cost of a fresh set of costs. While this is conveniant for some, it is also hazardous: it can be simple to get stuck into a spiral of debt which is a problematic drain on even the most sound of finances. The cost is also of concern, as cash advances are very expensive in comparison to virtually all other sorts of borrowing.

Nonetheless, if you find yourself in trouble come month end and can't make ends meet, then a cash advance loan could be a speedy and accessible solution - just ensure you are aware of and can cope with the dangers involved.
